Original Garden Studio Built in 2005

The Original Contemporary Garden Studio

This garden studio holds a special place in our portfolio as the very first contemporary studio we designed and built to be exhibited at the inaugural Grand Designs Live show in London. Following the exhibition, the studio was relocated and erected under Permitted Development (PD) rights, which at the time allowed for flat-roof garden buildings up to 3m in height.

Over the past 20 years, this garden studio has proven its versatility, adapting to the evolving needs of its owner. Initially used as an office, it later transitioned into a playroom, gym, and now serves as a vibrant art studio. Its timeless design and durable construction have ensured its longevity, retaining all its original materials, including the sedum-planted roof, which continues to thrive.

This project showcases the enduring appeal and adaptability of modular design, demonstrating how a well-thought-out garden studio can evolve to meet changing lifestyles while maintaining its functionality and aesthetic integrity.
